Some writers, producers and musicians need that special place to work in and write their opus and Alexis Farshi made it his priority to seek out that place. The multi-talented guitarist, producer and technical master of wizardry went to great lengths to get his new EP ‘Indian Summer’ finished. Making sacrifices are all part and parcel of being an artist and Alexis made his own sacrifice by giving up the fashionable throng of Hackney and his studio at its epicentre to relocate to the heart of Kent and into a studio within a barn where he now lives accompanied by his faithful companion and dog Sebastian. “Alexis has travelled extensively, gaining inspiration from a wide range of music styles. His own diverse work explores classical, Dub, electronica, punk and ancient song thus creating a newly hatched hybrid of 60’s meets 90’s psychedelia-tinged power-pop. Alexis’s music is entwined with Andrew Weatherall’s early works, later Beatles compositions and some truly Balearic vibes all served up with an honesty that’s as addictive as the music he is making. Alexis is as truly diverse and authentic as they come, having previously remixed Black Sabbath (under his Betsy Spitz moniker) and worked with Snoop Dogg on a collaborative pop track which recently went platinum to composing music for prestigious agencies such as Saatchi and Saatchi, there is little he can’t turn his creative hand to. ‘Indian Summer’ his latest project certainly doesn’t disappoint in getting any music lover’s creative senses tingling. This EP serves as the perfect introduction to Alexis, it combines his varying musical flavours with an intriguing blend of Rock, electronica, and he provides a softer classical approach to his song writing with heartfelt vocals and melodies. All of this pieced together makes for an alluring teaser for his forthcoming album which will be a 2021 treat.
